TRANSITION INTO NEW PLACEMENT

Through this first placement in the second grade, I have gained an extreme amount of knowledge and understanding of what it is to be a teacher.  This experience has given me the confidence and preparation to handle situations that I was inexperienced with before.  I have acquired many new behavior management techniques and a vast amount of advice that I will take with me into my second placement in the fourth grade.  Most importantly, I have developed a positive attitude and an optimistic outlook on what teaching is all about.

Getting through this first placement is an exciting accomplishment.  I know that I am halfway through what has been, so far, an amazing journey.  The students in my second grade class have definitely given me confidence as a teacher.  They have changed my life, because each student has helped me realize that teaching is my passion, and they make my job that much better.  They were a joy to work with.  I know that I have truly impacted their lives, because of all the positive feedback I have received from them.  It was honestly a rewarding experience that I will never forget.

Change is a good thing, but I’m extremely nervous to switch to fourth grade.  I know that it will be hard, mostly because the children are so different.  They are obviously older, but that means they have developed into individuals, or pre-teens.  I think it is going to be a challenge, because they will have so much more to say.  Disciplining them won’t be easy, but I’m hoping that with my new behavior management techniques, I’ll be able to handle the situations I will encounter.
