UPON LEAVING STUDENT TEACHING

When I look back at the beginning of my student teaching, I feel that it was just yesterday that I began this magnificent journey. I can’t believe that my experience as a student teacher in Public School 86 is coming to an end.  It has been one long emotional journey that I would not change for the world.  It has made me realize that my true place in the world is to educate and inspire others.

My cooperating teacher’s definitely deserve recognition for helping me become the educator that I am and will continue to become.  I have taken so many things away from them that I will apply in my classroom.  I had the opportunity to work in two very different classroom settings.  In my first placement I was able to apply my teacher presence in front of the class, and in my second placement I was truly able to work on my behavior management skills.  I feel that I have taken away from this experience, with the help of my cooperating teachers, the knowledge and skills to continue on in my dreams of becoming an educator.

Most of all, from this experience, I hope to have made an impact on all of my students.  They have been incredible students who have truly helped me to realize the potential that I have.  Through them, I have personally witnessed a change in who I am.  I have become even more patient and I am able to see that everyone is their own person and they matter.  They have encouraged me to make a positive difference in their lives, and I am confident that they have changed mine forever.  I am certain that with all of the lesson plans I have taught, the guidance I have given my students, and through all of the hard work and dedication that I have put into this semester of student teaching will pay off in the real world.
